Dr. Simon Obas is an accomplished educational leader with more than 15 years of experience driving excellence across K–12 schools. He currently serves as the Deputy Administrative Head of Schools at School in the Square Public Charter School, where he leads organizational strategy, operations, and culture for a growing network of schools. His leadership focuses on building high-performing teams, strengthening systems, and sustaining excellence through data-driven decision-making and people-centered development. Prior to this role, Dr. Obas served as Head of Schools at Paterson Prep, where he aligned academics, operations, and culture, strengthening systems and achieving results for students. Under his leadership, the school achieved a 95% parent satisfaction rate, secured nearly $1 million in academic expansion funding, and rebuilt the Special Education program to achieve 100% compliance. Previously, as Principal at Achievement First, Dr. Obas led a campus of over 750 students and 100 staff members, improving staff satisfaction from 16% to 85%. Earning top leadership ratings and achieving a 100% college acceptance rate for graduates. His earlier experiences include leadership roles at Uncommon Schools, The Charter High School for Law and Social Justice, and KIPP NYC, where he consistently advanced instructional quality, equity, and school culture. Dr. Obas holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership and Supervision and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Johnson C. Smith University, where he served as Vice President of Academic Affairs in the Student Government Association.
